Training is mandatory for all treasurers of Tier II registered student organizations. Although these workshops are only required for Treasurers, all executive officers are invited and encouraged to complete one or both of the treasurer workshops! In addition to the SOLID Treasurer Training workshop, there are also mandatory SOLID workshops for the President (COO), Vice-President (VP), and Secretary (SEC).
Treasurer Responsibilities
All Tier II student organizations need to elect or appoint a Treasurer to manage their financial matters. An organization that has a large membership and/or many fundraisers, events or programs should consider having an assistant financial officer to share the responsibilities.
The Treasurer should keep all members informed about the organization’s financial activities and financial status. Organizations are more likely to meet their financial goals if members are an active part of the financial decision-making process.
Treasurer tasks include:
- Required Treasurer trainings
- Serving as primary signatory on financial accounts
- Becoming familiar with accounting policies and procedures
- Maintaining financial history
- Keeping financial records
- Reporting financial status
- Completing banking transactions
- Reviewing budgets
- Assessing service contracts

SOLID Treasurer Training Workshop
This training is required for all treasurers of Tier II registered student organizations to receive an “Active” status on UConntact. An organization will not be able to reserve any meeting or event space if their treasurer has not completed this training.

SABS Treasurer Training Workshop
Required for treasurers with Student Activities Banking Services (SABS) bank accounts.
An organization will not be able to withdraw funds from their SABS bank account unless their treasurer has completed this training.
